What is Nordic Walking?
Nordic walking is a great way to exercise in the outdoors with spectacular views and to fulfil exercise aims using Nordic Walking poles. This is just such a great way to be outdoors and get fit, come rain or shine, with a low impact activity and using 90% of the bodies muscles.
Coming along to a Taster Session will give an insight to the theory behind Nordic Walking and how the poles can propel you as you walk, and you will see how the whole body has a workout without feeling like you have worked too hard.
This technique can be used to enjoy the outdoors more easily to normal walking or worked to its capacity within the realms of your body to help maintain weight, fitness levels, cardiovascular fitness & injury recovery, whatever your fitness levels are, at a pace that is right for you!
I use a programme that is designed by Nordic Walking Uk to lead you through the fundamental techniques, mastering pole techniques, posture, to advancing technique and speed.
Why is it good for me?
Nordic Walking is an enhancement of ordinary walking – it makes something we can all do… twice as effective! Nordic Walking uses poles in order to add two major benefits to walking
The use of poles means the upper body muscles are used as well as the legs
The poles help to propel you along – this means that you work harder than usual yet the support given by the poles makes it feel easier!
What equipment do I need?
Comfortable outdoor clothing, trainers if it’s dry or a walking shoe if it’s wet, layers are a great idea and if it’s raining you will need waterproofs.
The learn to Nordic walk programme is split over 4 sessions. You can come as a group of friends or have a 1 to 1 session. The equipment is proved as part of the cost.
